Turn measured window sizes into practical cutting plans that reduce film waste and manual planning effort.
How CuttingPlan works
About CuttingPlan
What CuttingPlan does
CuttingPlan takes your measured window sizes and creates practical film cutting layouts designed to reduce film waste, reduce manual planning effort and help avoid preventable mistakes.
Basic workflow
Enter your panel sizes manually or import them from a spreadsheet. Choose your film, roll widths and job settings, then select Generate to create the cutting plan.
Material planning
CuttingPlan shows the film required, material usage, waste and overall job totals. Use these figures to help prepare more accurate quotes, order the correct amount of film and understand job metrics such as total m² to assist with planning.
Features
Area
Use Area to identify where each panel belongs, such as Kitchen, Lounge or Bedroom. This helps keep the cutting plan and installation information easy to follow.
Film Type
Use Film Type when a job contains more than one film. CuttingPlan keeps different films separate and optimises each film group independently.
Panel Notes
Add installation or job-specific information to individual panel types. Notes are carried through to the cutting-plan output for reference.
Orientation Locks
Lock a panel's orientation when the film must run in a particular direction, such as with directional, textured or patterned films.
Standardise Similar Sizes
Groups similar panel sizes into common larger cut sizes within your chosen tolerance. Panels are never made smaller.
Compact Repeated Rows
Shows identical consecutive cutting rows once with a repeat count. Material totals are unchanged.
Mixed Roll
Allows CuttingPlan to use more than one roll width within the same film type when this produces a better valid plan.
Split Panels
Oversized windows can be divided into multiple film pieces while preserving the information needed to identify and install the pieces correctly.
Advanced Optimisation
Runs an additional optimisation pass to look for a more efficient valid cutting plan. The standard plan is retained if no better valid alternative is found.
Import Sizes
Import panel measurements and job information from supported spreadsheet files instead of entering each panel manually. You can review the detected mapping before anything is imported.
Save Job / Load Job
Save the current job as a .cpl CuttingPlan file and reopen it later. Saved generated plans reopen exactly as they were saved unless you choose to generate a new plan.

Panel Sizes
Panel Sizes
Enter the measured width, height and quantity for each panel.
Film type is optional. Matching film types are optimised together; different films stay separate within this job.
Bleed is added automatically using the setting below.
Panels may rotate when this improves the cutting plan unless their orientation is locked.
Use the lock icon for textured, patterned, graphic or other directional films.
Use the note icon for optional panel-specific installation or handling information.
Import sizes from an Excel or CSV file, then review the sheet, mappings and valid rows before adding anything.
Standardisation can combine near-identical sizes into common larger cut sizes.
Oversized panels can be split using the split-panel controls where required.
Enter the finished glass dimensions in millimetres. Bleed is added automatically. m² is calculated automatically.
Please enter at least one valid panel row.
Upload an Excel or CSV file. Nothing is added until you review and confirm the import.

Groups similar panel sizes into a common larger cut size within the selected tolerance. Panels are never made smaller.
Large tolerances can substantially increase cut sizes.
Roll Widths
Roll Widths
Enter the film roll widths available for the job. You can add more than one width.
Each film type can have its own roll widths, stock, priority and pricing.
Mixed-roll optimisation may divide the job across multiple widths when this produces a better result.
Stock can limit how much film is available on each roll.
Roll priority can mark rolls to use first, normally or last.
With complete pricing, CuttingPlan can use job cost when comparing eligible plans.
Add roll widths, optional pricing and available stock. Generate will test all listed rolls.
CuttingPlan may divide the job across any combination of the selected roll widths when this produces the best result.
Each film type is optimised separately using its own available roll widths.
Assign Use first, Normal or Use last to each roll above.
Shows identical consecutive rows once with a repeat count. Material totals are unchanged.
Runs an additional optimisation pass to look for a more efficient valid cutting plan.
Enter your panel sizes and available roll widths, then generate your cutting plan.
CuttingPlan collects anonymous technical and job-shape usage data to help improve optimisation. Customer names, addresses and contact details are not collected.
